INGREDIENTS & DIRECTIONS

Estimated time: 1 hour

Effort/Skill: Easy

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup raw shelled pumpkin seeds

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1/2 cup raw shelled sunflower seeds

  • 1 tbsp whole flaxseeds

  • 2 tbsp ground flax seeds

  • 1/4 cup hemp seeds

  • black sesame seeds (you can use regular sesame seeds, I just like the colour contract)

  • 1/4 cup chickpea flour (or brown rice flour)

  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1 tsp each: garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, chilli powder, dried chives

  • optional: 1 tsp vegeta

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • juice of 1/2 lemon

  • 1 cup boiling water

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F.

  2. In a large bowl, add in chickpea flour, seeds, spices and lemon juice. Then gradually add boiling water.

  3. Mix well. Add more water if necessary.

  4. Let the mixture sit for a minute until the seeds gel together.

  5. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Scrape seed mixture onto the baking sheet. Spread flat with clean hands or a spatula. Your mixture should be sticky, but very little getting stuck to your hands/spatula.

  6. Place a large piece of parchment paper over the flattened mixture, covering every inch. Take a rolling pin (I used a glass jar) and roll the cracker mix as thin as possible.

  7. Pre-cut into squares with a pizza wheel.

  8. Place in preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes or until well baked..

  9. Store in a cool, dry place in a container.

  10. Enjoy with your favourite creamy hummus!
