A happy belly
equals
a happy mind
Hi lovely!
I’m Krissy Solic, Registered Holistic Nutritionist* helping you nourish and shine
*CAIN Registered Holistic Nutrition Practitioner or CAIN-RHNP
Plants matter!
I focus on helping my clients through plant-based nutrition for:
the animals
healthy living
the planet
+ I’m a Botany geek
We can all accept the fact that plants are necessary in our diet, and I have all the reasons why phytonutrients are important in the gut-healing process and for our emotional health…and so much more.
PLUS plants have everything you need in your diet - especially deliciousness!
Holistic approach
I believe that in order to heal what ails us, we need to work on more than just our physical body. We have to complete the body - mind - spirit connection.
I call it a homecoming and coming home via holistic nutrition, includes breathwork, heart-centric breathwork, mindfulness, exercise, hydration, meditation, plant-based nutrition and much, much more!
Hi Lovely! Thanks for landing on the ‘Krissy’ page. While I walk you through my journey, it’s safe to say that you’re here for your health journey 💚!!
I studied really hard at a time in my life that was the most fragile. I’ve created recipes and programs, and put this all together for you.
I pursued a career in Holistic Nutrition to help people find the ultimate nourishment they were craving in order to live a happier (and hopefully longer) life.
I would love to get to know you too, so be sure to connect and tell me your story.
How did I get here?
Belly.
I have gone through life with a gut that never felt quite right.
No matter what I did, I had belly-aches, inflammation, digestive issues and constant gut-mind issues that never seemed to resolve.
All until I learned what worked best for me. A clean plate and a clear conscience lead me to happier days.
Botany.
I studied Botany in university. Why? Well, I refused to dissect animals in Biology courses and I became fascinated with the power of plants.
The root of all medicine has come from plants, and plant-based nutrition and living helps saves animals, the planet and your health! I’ve got the know-how on how plants work and what they can offer you.
Brain.
The most personal part of my journey wasn’t my own journey.
In 2018, my partner had a brain tumor and during his surgery removing this oversized golf ball, he had a stroke. It was in the hospitals that I discovered what care looked like and I knew that all the preventative measures he’d taken thus far — saved his life.
I was so inspired that I hit the nutrition books, and here I am! Ready to help you heal!
I trusted my gut, woke up, switched to a plant-based lifestyle and voila! my passion for nutrition was born.
For me, it was that last terrible rash on my elbows to realize that something wasn’t right. After consulting with my Naturopath, she helped me to uncover what was going on in my gut. Right then and there, I flipped the switch and I knew I had to take my own health journey into my own hands and surround myself with my very own team of holistic professionals working for me - body, mind, heart, gut and soul.
I made some small changes to my lifestyle, lost weight, felt my energy surge and gained a new love - learning how to heal my gut!
My passion for nutrition and wellness was born. When my partner had a brain tumour that needed to be removed pronto and experienced a stroke, I knew I had a clear purpose. I like to say, it was the brain surgery that brought me to the gut-brain axis.
What is the difference between a Health Coach, Nutritionist, and Dietician?
A Health Coach, Nutritionist and a Dietician walk into a bar. Joking.
Simply put, a Health Coach* works with their clients to set clear goals and keeping their clients accountable. They cannot medicate, test or prescribe any supplements. Their job is to coach and keep their clients on track with a health plan.
A Holistic Nutritionist** also coaches clients to reach their goals, and they can help by looking holistically at the root cause of what’s going on - not diagnose. They’ve likely studied anatomy and physiology and some intense nutrition courses. If they are registered (like moi), they keep current and fresh with education requirements. Regulation and legislation may vary depending on the country or province. Holistic Nutritionists are usually licensed to recommend supplements, protocols, and some tests. Some are covered by insurance companies in certain benefit programs. Be sure to ask your Holistic Nutritionist if they are licensed and also check with your benefits provider.
A Dietician works with clients in a treatment manner and helps them to manage disease. The regulations and requirements to be a Dietician are far more entailed than the above two categories - there are more regulations governing this profession (which is an amazing benefit). After the many years of schooling and studying, dieticians are able to diagnose and are covered by medical insurance. Maybe you’ve encountered a Dietician at your local hospital to ensure there’s optimal nutrition for you as a patient. You can also work with Dieticians privately and there are some excellent ones out there that I can recommend if you need their help.
Each professional works to help their clients improve their health. Personally, I chose the path of Registered Health & Nutritional Practitioner ™️ (CAIN-RHNP™️) and registered with the Canadian Association for Integrative Nutrition ™️. I work with my clients in a one-on-one or group coaching capacity to help them reach their goals.
Each of us is responsible for our own journey. Working with someone you trust and enjoy being around, can help you stay accountable and acheive your goals.
Be sure you read the important note below.
*Health Coach and **Nutritionist are not protected titles. Essentially, anyone can call themselves a Nutritionist in certain regions. Thanks to great schools like Nutraphoria to organizations like the Health Coach Alliance ™️ (HCA) and Canadian Association for Integrative Nutrition (CAIN), members gather together to help keep integrity and quality for these titles, the related studies required to carry registered titles and work with insurers to allow clients to claim these expenses via their medical insurance.
