Put down your sword
Are you tired of being the strong one? The one that says “I’m fine” to everyone that asks you how you are?
I thought so.
Are you carrying the burden of others? And carrying their weight on your shoulders?
If you answered yes, then I’m going to guess you’re running on empty, you’ve put everyone else ahead of yourself and you’re tired. Tired of carrying the weight and perhaps too tired to care.
In all the struggles of this world, you’ve had to be strong for your loved ones and in your strongest moments, you were hiding your feelings, denying yourself, shrinking your own emotions, and ending up feeling small.
You are welcome here. With your feelings. With this breath. You have arrived. Be present in this moment.
Let go of the battles.
Battles that may not even be your own.
Allow your feelings in. Let them sit with you. Be here with you.
What are you holding on to?
Now, check your breath.
Breathe
Follow your breath
Where is it stuck?
Where is it going to in the body?
Let it go there
Notice it
Breathe in nourishment
Breathe in love
Breathe out all that no longer serves you.
Let it go.
Let it all go.
You are welcome here.
If you are answering “fine” to the “how are you” questions and pushing yourself to the bottom of your list, listen to your hunger - physical and emotional. If you’re denying your own feelings, take the time you need to nurture yourself. Eat when you’re hungry. Don’t starve your body, or your emotional well-being.
I had a successful career in Canadian financial services industry for a few decades and we always preached: PAY YOURSELF FIRST. The same rule applies with holistic nutrition: FEED YOURSELF FIRST.
Here’s one way you can ensure you’re not starving yourself: prep your meals. In order to feed yourself first, meal prep is so important when you’re tired and drained, yet you need nourishment. One of my favourite ways to prep ahead is to have veggies washed and cut ahead of time in the fridge or freezer. This makes dinner time a breeze and WAAAAAY less stressful.
Prioritizing yourself takes some work. Trust me, I know. Speak to yourself kindly and give yourself time, love and respect. If you are looking to have help to keep yourself accountable, this is not a sign of weakness. It’s the bravest move you’ll ever make. You are welcome here and welcome to a free discovery call.
